Meet my Groom

Kurt and I met in 2005.  It was my freshman year in college and he was a senior.  I thought he was so dreamy-cute and was really honored that a senior thought I was pretty!  We started dating within a month of meeting each other.  I was head over heels (as was he) shortly after.  Over Christmas break he came to DE to meet my family. One night he told me with tears in his eyes that he loved me and that he was sorry for ever telling another girl because he knew now he had never been in love before.  That's right ladies, he is so sweet!  Our first kiss was like a scene in a movie with rain starting to fall just as he leaned in to kiss me.  We ran back to the dorm in the pouring rain.  He won my heart and I thank God for him every day.
In November of 2007 he asked me to be his wife.  On June 28, 2008 I became his bride and that day stands out as one of the 2 best days of my life.  Since we married, I have completed 2 degrees; a BS in Elementary Education and a MA in Holistic Education.  Kurt was a gem the whole time I was finishing school.  More often than not, he fixed dinner so I could continue with my schoolwork.  He helped me with cleaning and he worked hard to provide for us so I could focus on my schoolwork without having to take a job; all without complaint.

I found out I was pregnant with our sweet Oliver the day I finished graduate school.  We spent much of my pregnancy trying to figure out a way to move to VA to be near my sister, bro in-law, and 2 nephews.  Nothing worked out so we had to find a new place to live before Oliver was born.  The birth of Oliver (which you can read about in my birth story tab) was a monumental event in our marriage.  Kurt surprised me all over again with how absolutely wonderful he is.  He studied natural childbirth with me, listened in on my sister's Bradley class via speaker phone with me on Monday nights, practiced relaxation with me, encouraged me to eat healthy, coached me, supported me, and helped so much more than I expected him to.  Actually, after I had Oliver, my younger sister Libby started to tell her friends they needed to think about how their boyfriends would treat them postpartum.  She told them about how Kurt treated me like a queen and was so supportive of everything.

The past year has come with a lot of BIG changes for us as a family.  We began searching for our home in Knoxville February of 2012.  The decision to look for a home here was a big deal because we never planned to settle in Knoxville.  Being that we don't have family here, it was a hard decision but we felt called to plant our roots here.  Our home search extended from February-July until we found *the one*.  During that time, I became pregnant with our daughter Julianne.  We closed on this house in August and moved right in.

This June will mark 5 years of marriage for us.  If you asked me on my wedding day where I saw us in 5 years, I guarantee my answer would have included a baby or two and owning a home.  This is exactly where we want to be in life and I am so glad God has blessed us so much.  I am so incredibly lucky to be Kurt's wife.  I am head over heels in love with him and had to share our love story with you.

Here are some pictures of our wedding day.  Enjoy!!
