A Perfect Day

Rarely there is a day anymore that I can do as I please.  By rarely, I mean never.  However this past Friday was an exception.  My little sister had been in town for the week.  We really enjoyed our time together.  All week though, we looked forward to Friday.  It was a day that we planned for weeks and yearned for for months.  We made hair appointments for that afternoon and realized later that my husband was actually off work that day. Libby's husband was coming into town the night before.  That meant we would be able to leave before our appointments and spend the day together, without kids!

Friday turned out to be a pretty perfect day.  We got to have a laid back morning of sipping coffee and doing our nails.  The kids played and changed their clothes probably 10 times.  Do your kids do that too?  Mine are always changing their clothes.  Julianne at one point put on her Easter dress!  Anyway, we didn't make it out of the house till about 1.  That was ok though and we knew we'd get to stay out if we needed to.  We started with some shopping.  We both have lost a significant amount of weight doing Trim Healthy Mama.  I am so glad we got to do this together!  Libby has lost over 70 pounds and I lost 56 pounds.  We both needed some new summer clothing.  Let me tell you, shopping has always been one of our favorite activities together but this was different.  The fact that we rarely get to do this together anymore made it special.  Then shopping because we were celebrating dramatic weight losses made it even better!  The workers we so kind to us, carrying our piles of clothing to the fitting room for us as we kept shopping.  They even celebrated with us when I told them how much weight we had lost.

We shopped a couple hours and found some great deals!  We have recently decided quality is more important than quantity when shopping for clothing so we were careful with our choices and had a lot of fun!  We finished up and made it over to the salon in time for our appointments.  After signing in we went next door to grab a Starbucks since we had the time.  Our time at the salon with our iced coffee was so fun!  I've been seeing David at Max Hair and Nails since 2006.  He's awesome and we always have fun together!  He was excited to see Libby too so we just had fun laughing and chatting about pretty much everything.  I got highlights and we both had haircuts.  I think salon time should always include a good friend and some good coffee, don't you?

From the salon we decided we were ready for dinner so we went over to Tomato Head for some Moscato, greek salad, and mushroom pizza.  We are still careful of our eating plan the majority of the time but sometimes we do choose to cheat.  We are smart about our bodies and our choices and have been able to maintain our weight for a year now and have been able to maintain a balance.  We really enjoyed our dinner.  We sat on the patio under the bulb lights and even though it started raining, it was relaxing and fun!  From dinner we decided to check out TJ Maxx and Home Goods.  The nice thing about our day is that we didn't have to worry.  The men had the kids and they are capable, attentive, and loving.  They didn't ask us when we were coming home.  They left us alone to enjoy our day together.  Actually, you know what the guys did while we were gone?  They finished the rubber mulch project around the kids swing set.  It looks fantastic!

When we got home our two youngest were already asleep.  We did some things around the house and I got my oldest into bed then came back down for some more sister time.  We may or may not have had another glass of Moscato on the screened in porch.  It was just a perfect day!

I've missed you.

I've missed writing.  It is good for so many things.  An outlet for words cramped up in my head.  In my time away from blogging I often have written posts in my head.  Well, enough is enough.  I am going to write again because I am always glad when I do.  Looking back years later and reading what we had going on at certain times is really neat.  I've never regretting writing a post.  Facebook is great for sharing different tidbits but actually writing more than a sentence is important too.  Life is passing quickly and my babies are growing.  Family life is always changing and I'm learning new things and how to do better for my family and for others all the time.  I need to chronicle more of what's going on, for myself. This post is for me, not you.  It's not a promise to blog every week because that's silly and becomes a chore.  This is my way of restarting my writing and finding the joy in it again.  It truly can be therapeutic.
